He is a World Association of Chefs’ Societies (WACS) International World Certified Master Chef (WCMC) and a 2012 International Culinary Olympic gold medalist, an American Culinary Federation (ACF) Certified Executive Chef (CEC), Certified Culinary Administrator, an ACF competition judge, an ACF Lead Certification Evaluator, and is a member of the ACF National Scholarship Subcommittee.

Tai did not originally set out to have a career in the private club industry. Rather, he earned a bachelor’s degree in molecular biology, cellular biology and psychology and a master’s degree in kinesiology and sport management on his way to pursuing a career in orthopedic medicine. But along the way, he realized that spending long hours working in research labs did not fit with his desire to be around people. His innate sense to want to help people is the reason he is successful in matching expertise and experience to club leadership roles.
